Counterfeit Ozempic products have been found in Europe

There have been no reports that the counterfeits have reached patients. By always purchasing your medicines from legitimate pharmacies and online pharmacies, you ensure that the authenticity of your medicine is checked before dispensing.

The European Medicines Agency EMA and the Finnish Medicines Agency Fimea report that counterfeit Ozempic 1 mg products have been detected in the EU and the UK. The counterfeits have been found in the legal distribution chain at pharmaceutical wholesalers. It is not known that counterfeits have reached patients.

The medicines verification system used throughout the EU and EEA countries is used to check the authenticity of a medicine before it is dispensed to the patient. Therefore, it is important that medicines are always purchased from legal sources, i.e. pharmacies or online pharmacies. More information on identifying a legal online pharmacy can be found on Fimea's website. Ozempic counterfeits were detected using the medicines verification system.
