Together with healthcare professionals against falsified medicines
Falsified medicines may appear authentic but can be of poor quality, ineffective, or even toxic—posing serious risks to patient safety. Fortunately, Finland has a robust safeguard in place: Fimvo, the Finnish Medicines Verification Organisation, which operates the Finnish Medicines Verification System.
Thanks to this system, developed and maintained in close collaboration with healthcare professionals, individuals can visit Finnish pharmacies with confidence—knowing that only genuine, verified medicines are dispensed.
We ensure the verification system operates in full compliance with legislation and that all supply chain stakeholders have the opportunity to participate.
At European level, the central repository—known as the EU Hub—is managed by the European Medicines Verification Organisation (EMVO). EMVO’s members include representatives from the European pharmaceutical industry, wholesalers, pharmacies, and hospital pharmacies.
FiMVO works actively with EMVO to uphold medicine safety across Europe. More information is available here.

The company was founded in December 2016. The founders of FiMVO are Pharma Industry Finland, Orion Corporation, the Finnish Generic Pharmaceutical Association, Suppliers of Parallel Imported Medicines in Finland, the Association of Finnish Pharmacies and the Association of Pharmaceutical Distributors.
